A few years ago I went back to the town and the house I grew up in.The changes were startling and it made me a bit sad.I have no desire to go back again.

Good for you, Lisa, for facing that. I've learned through similar "returns" to loctions of both sad and happy times, that change is, indeed, life's only constant. You go, girl! :-)

I admire your courage! It brought back memories of my house … middle class suburbia …eclectic neighbors and lots and lots of music. Your description made me feel so sad. But you turned out to be a fantastic, quirky, brilliant, writer! Your parents really missed out! Oh, I gulped and laughed looking at the electric knife! The same as we had!
