The first time I heard this piece a couple of months ago, I was absolutely beamed somewhere far, far away.
I’ve since discovered that this hasn’t changed in subsequent listening sessions.
And don’t we all need to be beamed far away right now — at least once a day — so that we can refuel?
I am heading to a week of piano camp in Lubec, Maine in August. I downloaded the score and am sorely tempted to spend a week drilling down on this, but I know I could never sound as sublime as Olafsson.
But it may be worth a try.
What would you like to try but you know you’ll fall horribly short? Maybe it’s time to give it a shot. Leave a comment below.
What a relaxing musical interlude. Piano camp? I am imagining little cabins scattered in the woods of Maine, each one with a piano and instead of a central campfire there is a big outdoor theater with a baby grand in a park pavillon for meals and fellowship. Moose stroll in the woods and wolves sing along at dusk.
The Bach transported me. . . in a gentle way.
Thanks, Lisa.
